Los Angeles Ballet's Summer Series will showcase new choreographic works by Jacques Heim, Artistic Director of Diavolo, and Lester Horton Award winner Jennifer Backhaus of Backhaus Dance. The program also includes Balanchine's Allegro Brilliante, a classical bravura work for five couples danced to Tchaikovsky's exciting score, and August Bournonville's Napoli Pas de Six and Tarantella, back by popular demand.

Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf is a must-see for every child. The characters are played by particular instruments – the bird by a flute, the duck by an oboe, the cat by a clarinet, the grumpy grandfather by a bassoon, the wolf by the French horns and the hunters by the timpani and bass drum. The strings represent our fine hero, Peter.

The Colburn Orchestra proudly welcomes internationally acclaimed violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman to the podium. The program will open with Weber's dramatic Overture to Oberon, followed by Lalo's expressive Cello Concerto with award-winning cellist Amanda Forsyth. Rounding out the evening are Dvorák's Romance for Violin and Orchestra with Maestro Zukerman performing and conducting, and Tchaikovsky's beloved Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture.
